Greetings AUKers from down under where I’ve been for the last two weeks in preparation for the other half of my existence, and being here felt like an opportune moment to share a new recording by Aussie legend Paul Kelly who has become increasingly popular in americana circles for being, well, just a terrific songwriter and performer. The track is the fourth release in the Mushroom 50 singles series, a cover of Aussie 80s powerpop band The Sunnyboys’ ‘Alone With You.’ The song was the second single from the Sunnyboys’ self-titled debut album, which was produced by Lobby Loyde, who also managed the band. Paul Kelly was signed to Mushroom Records from 1980 – 1998, and if you’ve not delved into his back catalogue yet, now is the time to start.
