Our own resident Rapunzel is pulling up her hair at Americana UK Towers for another week and we leave you dear reader with a track from East LA’s Los Lobos who return with their new album ‘Native Sons’ which lands on 30th July via New West Records. The 13-song set was produced by the band in LA and finds them “mapping their musical DNA as a kaleidoscopic selection of tribute songs from their homeland, ultimately creating a crucial snapshot of L.A.’s musical heritage.” Today they have shared their rendition of Jackson Browne’s ‘Jamaica Say You Will’. From ‘Native Sons’ extensive album liner notes, Louie Perez Jr. says “I used to go over to David’s house after school and listen to records with him, and this song always resonated for me—such a beautiful melody. And the narrative was something I was attracted to. The storytelling. This song in particular inspired me to write from introspection—and I saw that my songs could be personal, but I could still write them to be universal. To this day, that’s been the template.” Regardless of how the end of the weekend works out, have a good one.
