Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader. In our Back Pages feature this week which Paul Kerr lovingly pulls together from time to time he referenced a bonus track on one of our old CD compilations by early-2000s Irish band The Thrills who on a quick search I cannot believe we’ve never mentioned once in the last decade. The Thrills were a huge thing in their homeland for a while, had some small hits in the UK and even made their way onto George Bush Jr’s iPod playlist although don’t blame them for that (it was still a bit more convincing than Gordon Brown’s apparent love for the Arctic Monkeys). I always thought they were hugely under-rated with harmonies to do time for, and deserved credit for putting banjos on Radio 1 way before the Mumfords were a thing. Anyway, we leave you for the weekend with this short but oh so sweet cut from their debut album “So Much for the City”. The good news is they’re apparently back for 2025 so we may have some new music soon!
Take care everyone, don’t forget Palestine and keep fighting the fascists. Have a good one, see you next week.

"For The Thrill Of It" is full of questions about how you live your life, seemingly mundane ideas that reveal something of your character. The song jumps in with Dressner's vocals straightaway…

Fine couple of albums what happened to them after the thrills have gone?
I had 2 or 3 albums by The Thrills now I can’t find them. Hmm No.1 suspect my son.
Anyhow I thought they were a great band great songs, actual tunes!
I had this album back in my youth!
Nice to see a few people remembered the band with affection!
They’re back for 2025?! Where did you hear that?

I give up on my quest but all I’ll note is that their Wiki page has said 2025-present in recent weeks: https://www.reddit.com/r/thethrills/comments/1j473jk/wikipedia_2025present/ So we live in hope I guess
