Something for the weekend: Toad the Wet Sprocket “Something’s Always Wrong” (Acoustic)

Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader. Before we sign off for the week, just to note that there’s a national demo for Palestine tomorrow here in Liverpool partly because Freebies Starmer is in town. Do come along if you’re in our neck of the woods. You can find all the details here.

So for many years I would tell people that my favourite song ever recorded was Californian band Toad the Wet Sprocket’s ‘Something’s Always Wrong’ which was taken from their “Dulcinea” album released all the way back in 1994. And nearly everyone I played it to ended up loving it, I just came back to it time and time again. Something happened along the way, I think I probably listened to it too much, and it fell out of favour on my playlists. But then just this last week, the band have released a new acoustic recording of it and it’s all come back to me, the hairs on my arms again feeling like they’re being pulled by some gravitational force. It is just exquisite. If you’ve never heard it before, hell, it’ll be the best four minutes of your day or your money back. It paradoxically makes you feel that something isn’t always wrong. Take care and have a good one.
