Sturgill Simpson has announced in a lengthy Instagram post that he has tested positive for COVID-19, writing that he received the diagnosis on Friday after almost a month of not exhibiting symptoms. Simpson describes his frustration at not being tested in mid-March after his tour of the US was cut short, but appears to be doing OK at the moment, although clearly exasperated at the baby-king’s response nationally. Here’s the post:

Only last week, Simpson posted of his sadness at the loss of his friend John Prine, who died from complications related to COVID-19. “There is so much I never said only because I didn’t want to bother you with it. After all you never asked to be ‘John Prine.’ There is so much I’ll never get to say now. You reminded me so much of my Grandfather it hurt sometimes. I never told you that.”
