The Commoners “Just Watch Me” – Rockin’ Free

Canadian roots rockers The Commoners are finding themselves a second home on this side of the Atlantic, as they’ve released this song in advance of their sixth tour of the UK. You’ll recall that they toured at the end of 2024 in support of fellow Canadians The Sheepdogs, and this December will see them leading their own headlining outing.

‘Just Watch Me’ is a defiant rocker; it “is the moment you stop apologizing for the weight on your shoulders and lean into it,” says The Commoners’ guitarist Ross Hayes Citrullo, adding “The main guitar riff feels like a rising charge, before the chorus kicks the doors open, and a jam section that refuses to back down. It’s a statement piece for the stage. We’re looking forward to playing it live on tour.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
