The Droptines “Take Too Much” – access to excess is no good thing

You may be thinking, “That’s a big band“, judging from the photo above. Well, not in fact the case – that was taken when The Droptines signed with Miranda Lambert’s Big Loud Texas and features from left to right Elliott Bell (Manager, C3 Management), Tony Rincon (Pedal Steel), Jon Randall (Co-founder / President of A&R, Big Loud Texas), Dillon Sampson (Bass), Miranda Lambert (Co-Founder, Big Loud Texas), Conner Arthur (Lead Singer / Guitarist), Brendon Anthony (Vice President, Big Loud Texas), Johnny Sheets (Drummer), Wes Donehower (SVP of A&R, Mercury Records / Big Loud Records). ‘Take Too Much‘ is the band’s first release on the new label, and it’s a rock and roll cautionary tale of boy meets girl meets drugs and dies.

New song, new label, and yes, here’s the clincher: new genre as the Austin-based band The Droptines pitches their sound as living wildly between the lines of americana and rock and roll – what they dub alternative americana. So, is that alt-alt-country? Oh man, what is this americana thing anyway?

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
