The Third Mind to release live album “Live Mind”

The Third Mind are all set to release their first live album via Yep Roc Records on 14th February 2025. This genuine supergroup issued their first self-titled album in 2020 a matter of days before the world shut down for the pandemic.  Their second, “Third Mind 2”, was released in late October 2023, a few weeks after the band made their live debut at San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival.

Art work Live Mind by The Third MindThat set was the launch pad for a series of US dates for The Third Mind.  The live record,“The Live Mind”, which will be released on the fifth anniversary of their debut,  features over an hour of performances, curated from shows in February and March 2024 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, Ventura Music Hall in Ventura, and The Kessler Theater in Dallas.

The all-star live line-up for those shows comprises Dave Alvin, Jesse Sykes, Victor Krummenacher, Michael Jerome, Mark Karan and Willie Aron.  Anyone who has had the good fortune to witness The Third Mind performing live will appreciate just how electric an experience they offer.

Five of the seven songs were on the two studio albums with ‘Doralee’ and ‘Dark Star’ being adds from the live repertoire. The latter’s inclusion is no doubt enhanced by the involvement of Mark Karan who was a member of several bands with former members of the Grateful Dead. You can pre-save “Live Mind” here.

If you would like to experience this unique musical journey for yourself, the band has released ‘Morning Dew’, continuing the psychedelic trip of Bonnie Dobson’s classic, as the first single. Take a listen below.
