Tyler Childers covers John Prine – Listen

Tyler Childers has released a cover version of John Prine’s fiddle-driven classic ‘Yes I Guess They Oughta Name a Drink After You’ taken from his 1972 album ‘Diamonds in the Rough’. The song is taken from an upcoming Prine tribute record, which maintains the feel (and most importantly the fiddle) of the original but also adds some tinkling barroom piano to emphasise the drink-to-forget message.

‘Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine, Vol. 2’, lands this Friday on October 8th on Prine’s Oh Boy Records. Proceeds from Childers’ song will go to the Hickman Holler Appalachian Relief Fund, which he and his wife Senora May set up in 2020 to benefit the Appalachian region of the U.S.
