Video: Ghost Hounds “Before You Leave” (feat. Lainey Wilson)

This recent single from Ghost Hounds is an aching song of heartbreak.  Featuring the voice of Lainey Wilson alongside SAVNT’s smooth, melodic vocals, “Before You Leave” is an emotive song that reflects on letting go when parting ways after building a life together.  Their voices combine with real, raw feeling and pull you into their narrative.  The song also benefits from beautiful fiddle from Kristin Weber (Lorde, Margo Price, Dolly Parton).  In the accompanying video, SAVNT delivers his heartfelt words while packing his bags: “You’re standing in the doorway // Suitcase at your side // Bags are overflowing // With half our lives inside.”

“Before You Leave” is one of the highlights from Ghost Hounds’ brand new album “Almost Home”, which has just been released.  The collection is themed around the idea of what makes a home, following a couple’s relationship journey from falling in love to making a home together.  Along the way, the songs explore love’s complexities and loss, through the band’s blend of country and roots-rock.  Another high point on the album is the Patty Griffin cover “Long Ride Home”, which features Griffin on vocals, another excellent combination with SAVNT – their voices complementing one another and reinforcing the song’s theme of grief over losing a loved one.  Check out the album after watching the video for “Before You Leave”.
