Video: Mountaintop Junkshop “Misadventureland”

Resignation and the unravelling of a relationship is made to sound like a beautiful thing by Leicester-based Mountaintop Junkshop in their single ‘Misadventureland’.  A sense of longing is generated by the combination of male and female vocals, delivered by Jon Bennett and Amy Cooper, voices twisting around one another like lost lovers.  The gorgeous arrangement brings together violin, warm electric bass and melodic keys in a lush yet understated, sweeping soundtrack to the band’s heartfelt storytelling.  Their words flow, intriguing lines and lyrics forming timeless, musical poetry.

This is the title track from “Misadventureland”, the brand new album on Twin Star Music Group in San Diego.  Each song unfolds as a narrative, with universal human stories of loss and hopefulness, set against lush combinations of strings, piano and guitar, raising up the harmonies of the lead vocalists.  “Misadventureland” is a blend of alt-country, folk and modern sounds that draw us into the band’s distinctive song-writing – wistful and fragile like the music of memory.  Mountainshop Junkshop released two critically-acclaimed singles, ‘Holy Hell’ and ‘I’m Still Looking For The Light’, before the album, which is out now.  This is music to be absorbed by.
