Video Premiere: Juana Everett “Bring Me Back”

The uplifting ‘Bring Me Back’ is the latest single from Juana Everett, following the release of the atmospheric ‘One Million Dollars’. Full of yearning, the song imagines a romanticised past and the coming-of-age memories that have become a nostalgic place Everett wants to return to. It’s a theme we can all associate with as we dream of escaping back to what we perceive to be simpler times. Everett’s restless acoustic strum – matching the rhythms of Jamie Dick’s (Allison Russell, Jonathan Wilson, Kacey Musgraves) percussion and Joe Pisapia’s (Allison Russell, Jonathan Wilson, Kacey Musgraves) melodious bass – is the foundation for the song. Over these sounds, Everett’s voice has a gorgeous purity to it, really elevating the song, the tune, the mood. Weeping, bending pedal steel – like another singing voice – is delivered by Alex Muñoz (Margo Price, John Hiatt), who also produced ‘Bring Me Back’. His outstanding pedal steel and electric guitar give the song great depth and truly feel like the musical form of all that nostalgic yearning.

Created by Jesse Weeden, the video gives us a glimpse of the creative and recording processes while recording the song at Middletree Studios in East Nashville. As ever, it’s a privilege to have access to talented artists at work and to see the excellent musicianship as the recording unfolds.

This is the second single from Everett’s upcoming sophomore album “Past Lives In California”, which is due out early in 2026. There’s a hugely talented cast of players and collaborators on this album, including the highly-regarded Dylan LeBlanc and Nicki Bluhm, who both contribute guest vocals. Throughout, the songs are brilliantly crafted, beautifully performed and full of compelling, timeless melody and instrumentation. Enjoy.
