Josh Tillman has released the details for his sixth Father John Misty album “Mahashmashana”, produced by himself and Drew Erickson and, of course, executive produced by Jonathan Wilson. It’ll be released Friday 22nd November in the UK & Europe via Bella Union and Sub Pop for the rest world and it’s available to preorder here.

The album features eight songs across 50 minutes and includes the singles ‘I Guess Time Makes Fools of Us All,’ ‘She Cleans Up,’ ‘Screamland,’ and ‘Josh Tillman and The Accidental Dose’. The latter two were mixed by BJ Burton. ‘I Guess Time Just Makes Fools Of Us All’ was released last month with the album “Greatish Hits” his career so far compilation. ‘Screamland’ is the newest single and is a 7-minute epic which features Alan Sparhawk from Low on guitar and a string arrangement written by Drew Erickson. You can watch it beow.

Commenting on the video Estefania Kröl says: “The video is a visual journey through the depths of ‘Screamland,’ capturing the essence of both the music and the artists. Father John Misty blends seamlessly into the scene, becoming a part of the city, a living echo of ‘Screamland.’”

The album’s title translates as follows and, of course, it’s a real pain to spell!  Mahāśmaśāna (महामशान)— great cremation ground, all things put going thither.

The UK  tour dates for April 2025 include a performance at the Royal Albert Hall and go on general sale on September 27th.
