There is, of course, no-one in the band called Leroy, and the band are based in California where they have honed a mix of country-rock and Seventies style Southern rock. So what’s this all about? The story starts with Eli Wulfmeier, a kid from Michigan who grew up listening to the likes of Free and Humble Pie and who started off on his guitar journey inspired by Joe Walsh. Post high school and its associated bands he relocated to California, and played with the band Dorothy for five years scoring a number of hits. He also toured with Shelby Lynne and Sam Morrow. Naturally though he was also working on his own music. Starting as a loose side-project Leroy From the North really firmed up once the band had settled into being a power trio with drummer Jason Ganberg and bassist Adam Arcos – a debut EP followed in 2019 and now a full length album ‘Toughen Up‘ from which today’s song premiere is taken.
Eli Wulfmeier told Americana UK that: “To me, the song ‘Push’ reminds me of something worth fighting for, whether it’s a person, a relationship, a fear or whatever. There is a sort of relief and accomplishment of taking things to the finish line despite whatever hardships occur along the way.”
