Will Page is the fiddle player for Noble Jacks, but he’s also a singer-songwriter in his own right, as he ably demonstrates on ‘The Rise‘ which features Steve Knightly. It’s a song that imagines that there is a better way to organise lives than endless competition, including that ultimate competition of peoples going to war.
Listening to ‘The Rise‘ it’ll come as no surprise that Will Page cites the early influence of Fairport Convention – and in particular Swarb’, who he saw perform live at his local village hall in Chiddingly (East Sussex). The influence of other early favourites like The Levellers and The Waterboys can also be heard on this most recent solo single.
