We’re delighted to share the beautiful new single from Spain-based British folk duo Jack & Daisy. ‘Barcelona (In The Rear View)’ is immediately captivating. Delicate acoustic guitar leaves space for Daisy’s vulnerably sounding voice to be the focus, reinforced by the well-shot video that places her at the centre while a party, dimly lit and out of focus, goes on in the background. The musical layers, movement, and growth are subtle, keys and percussion emerging slowly, gradually adding texture, while the pair’s harmonies are simply sublime.
Inspired by leaving Spain for New York to pursue their musical passions and dreams, the song is deeply personal and reflective. Anyone who has ever left the familiar behind to embark on a new endeavour or adventure will associate with the emotive lyrics that relate to the pair’s metaphorical and literal journey into the unknown. Full of hope, ‘Barcelona (In The Rear View)’ is a song of transformation and faith, of allowing yourself to be drawn towards a new beginning and the possible. There’s drama in such a journey, but it’s narrated as subtly as the duo’s music.
This is the title track from the duo’s highly anticipated debut EP, due for release on 11th July 2025 on Bay Street Records. The label was founded by acclaimed songwriter, musician, and producer Dave Stewart, who was famously one-half of celebrated duo Eurythmics. The GRAMMY Award-winner discovered Jack & Daisy in 2024 and was so struck by their talent that he co-wrote and plays on two of their songs as well as producing the entire collection. Stewart says of Jack & Daisy: “I discovered Jack & Daisy through my old friend Allan James, and like him, I was instantly floored. Their harmonies are pure and moving, their songs stripped back and heartfelt — it took me straight back to the golden days of the ’60s, when great songwriting, acoustic guitars, and honest emotion ruled the stage.”
In return, they say of collaborating with the legendary producer: “Working with Dave on our debut EP has been enlightening. He immediately understood what we were about and helped us channel our influences in a way that felt natural and creative. We’re really proud of the EP – it encapsulates our sound and tells our story so far.”
Jack Hunter and Daisy Taylor have had a rapid rise since meeting Stewart. They have already amassed over 8 million views and gathered over 70,000 subscribers on YouTube. Championed by the likes of Dave Stewart, this remarkable ascent is testament to the quality of the duo’s songwriting, their sweet harmonies, and ear for melody, and the appeal of their intimate songs that listeners instantly associate with. Enjoy.
