Video: Cam “Everblue”

GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Cam has a new single that she sums up as, “…peak sad girl.” Beginning immediately with Cam’s aching voice, ‘Everblue’ draws you in from the start to share in her personal reflections: “I never knew evergreen could turn to everblue.” Her vocal performance is gorgeous, especially when she delivers extended notes. The video, directed by James Mackel, is beautifully lit and focuses our attention entirely on Cam and her pure, smooth voice.

Cam says of the song: “In a way, I think we’re all eternally heartbroken by the world, and when I sing this song, it’s a way of holding space for that heartbreak instead of going numb or giving up on dreaming. There’s a 2010s tumblr flavour in there too as I tell you one of my most necessary affirmations for this season of my life: ‘I’m all done chasing what wasn’t meant for me.'”

‘Everblue’ appears on Cam’s third full-length album, “All Things Light”, which has just been released. The isolation of becoming a mother in the early days of the pandemic inspired Cam to look inward and create a more personal, introspective collection. Vulnerable and cathartic, these songs demonstrate Cam’s continued growth as a songwriter.
