Ann Liu Cannon “No You Don’t” – are you sure?

So, we don’t always get it right – speaking of Ann Liu Cannon, when she was supporting Kassi Valazza at the Slaughtered Lamb, we predicted she’d soon be headlining there. Nope – her first two London headline shows were at the Green Note and St Pancras Old Church, and the album release show for her new album “Clever Rabbits” will be today at The Lexington. The rest we stand by, though, and as ‘No You Don’t‘ illustrates, she has a hell of a voice.

No You Don’t‘ is a ballad of unrequited love written by Ann Liu Cannon, “at the start of a long-term relationship.” It features, alongside Ann Liu Cannon’s tender guitar and vocals, the album producer, Ethan Johns, on drums, with Hammond organ and Harmonium swelling around to add the emotional turmoil to this song of denial.

Further upcoming dates this month include a homecoming gig at a legendary music store; the full dates are:

12th July – Jacaranda, Liverpool
14th July – Vinilo, Southampton
15th July – A Slice of Vinyl, Gosport
16th July – Soundclash, Norwich
17th July (Full band) – Sound Knowledge, Marlborough

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
