Something for the weekend: Bright Eyes feat. Hurray for the Riff Raff “Dyslexic Palindrome”

Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader – I am having a rare venture down to London to see Sam Russo tonight although I’m so tired I fully expect to fall asleep in the gig, no offence Sam. We leave you anyway with a real treat – Conor Oberst’s Bright Eyes have announced a new 8 track EP “Kids Table” due out later next month, and they’ve released a new single to be taken from it, ‘Dyslexic Palindrome’ which features Hurray For The Riff Raff’s Alynda Segarra. Oberst commented: “Alynda Segarra is one of the most soulful people I have ever encountered. Everything that passes through them is haunted by the weary ghost of American music past. I have had the good fortune of recording and performing with them on many occasions and I am always blown away by Alynda’s ability to channel what is both intangible and universal. Seemingly walking along in a second line of skeletons. Blowing on a valiant horn. I know it sounds crazy but, yet, there Alynda is. Always so very present but with one foot on the other side.”  If the ska sound to the single from a few weeks ago isn’t your thing, this has a much more laidback country vibe and mentions unions and scabs so we’re basically all over it.

Take care everyone, don’t forget Palestine and keep fighting the fascists. See you next week.
