Welcome to the fourth year of Twang Factor, where Americana UK sets out to find the best new and emerging americana acts. Got talent? This is the place to show us what you’ve got.
Our third contestant is Karl Robert Neice, who identifies as a “Western soul.” Seattle has been his home since the 1970s, working at The Rocket and the “Seattle Times.” His latest album was released in August 2025 and is titled “Roads I’m Taking.” Neice says, “This is my musical journey – California cities, valleys, mountains and music that shaped my life growing up in ‘60s.” It is a record of original and soulful folk and country music, powered by words, flute, piano, organ, and tasty Western guitar by Wes Weddell.
Neice is playing ‘In Town Tonight,’ which is on the aforementioned album and which includes the lyrci: “In Town Tonight I’ve got to… go down / Learn my lessons on your ground / And then ride into town… tonight / You’ve been here, you’ve been around / Now you’re nowhere to be found / But I’ll be finding you in town… tonight / The highway’s been telling my story / And Main Street’s been blowing me down / No time to take inventory / We’ll just do what’s never been done… never been done… / I’ve got to… lift this load Take my lessons on the road / And then ride into town… tonight / When you feel the drummer pound / Then you’re somewhere to be found / And I’ll be finding you in town… tonight
