A new release from Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real is always cause for celebration. Nelson writes such open, romantic lyrics so effectively. When he sings: “You’re the best one for the part to play the one I give my heart,” it’s authentic, believable and easy to relate to. He constructs beautiful melodies and then delivers them with a distinctive, engaging voice and this song is another good example. The video includes home-video-style footage from Shangri-La, Rick Rubin’s recording studio, so we can see the band – bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony LoGerfo, percussionist Tato Melgar, multi-instrumentalist Logan Metz and Nelson, of course – at work. ‘Movie in My Mind’ is from new album ‘Naked Garden’, which includes ten brand-new tracks and five new versions of songs from ‘Turn Off The News (Build A Garden)’. What a brilliant way to start the week.
