Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader. It’s the hope that kills you and a week is a long time in politics, etc. but it’s looking pretty positive for Mamdani? With headlines like “Over 25% of New Yorkers will consider fleeing NYC if Zohran Mamdani wins!!” in the New York Post the meltdown is apparently fully underway, always a good sign that the establishment is bricking it (the Democrats in particular finding 17 new ways to shoot themselves in the foot on a daily basis.) Maybe if that 25% do actually leave New York might be a nicer place?
Anyway, stay tuned and in the meantime, on that unusual feeling of optimism, please cast your mind twenty years back when Cambridge’s Broken Family Band released their second full-length album “Welcome Home, Loser” (which happens to be the first three words my son usually says when I get in from work each day), an album which started with the epicly in your face ‘Happy Days Are Here Again’ which cheerily suggests “We could fuck each other over just for fun.” Their debut featured a guest appearance from Samantha Parton from The Be Good Tanyas, as well bringing the group to the attention of John Peel, who had them record two sessions. Frontman Steven Adams was a longtime friend of AUK and probably in the top 5 people we ever interviewed in terms of making us laugh (for the right reasons) so Steven, if you’re still reading, we are still listening! Also please send us a better image for this piece we can use.
Take care everyone, don’t forget Palestine and keep fighting the fascists. See you next week.
