Norwich superstars Brown Horse set to release third album in three years

Brown Horse, AUK favourites and incidentally named one of Brooklyn Vegan’s 10 Artists Shaping the New Indie-Country Boom, are set to return with their third album in as many years, “Total Dive”. With songs from each of the now only four full-time members (Patrick Turner, Nyle Holihan, Emma Tovell, and Rowan Braham), the writing charts a world of small revelations and painful changes. The album is out on 10th April via Loose Music, and they have also announced their first-ever North American tour, as well as a string of UK dates. This album follows their previous two releases on Loose Music, last year’s “All The Right Weaknesses”, one of the AUK writers’ albums of last year, and their debut “Reservoir”.

In addition, the band has shared the album’s first single, ‘Twisters’, A wide-open blast of country rock that features a tangle of shimmering pedal steel and swirling organ, with the accompanying music video directed by Alistair Nicholls.

The new album appears to be the clearest expression yet of the band’s unique sound: somewhere between the stark country rock of Uncle Tupelo, the raw intimacy of early Cat Power, and the haunted landscapes of Magnolia Electric Co., while embracing the self-possessed noisiness of alt-rock trailblazers like Built to Spill and The Breeders and the sound has been bolstered by the playing of Norwich drummer Ben Rodwell and the vocal harmonies of Leeds-based musician Neve Cariad. The album can be pre-ordered here.

“Total Dive” tracklist:
01. Sorrow Reigns
02. Twisters
03. Comeback Loading
04. Hares
05. Heart of the Country

The band embarks on their first-ever US tour in May, but not before a run through the UK immediately following the release of “Total Dive”. A full list of announced dates can be found below, and tickets are available through all the usual outlets.

Riding the one eyed horse into dead town the scales fell from his eyes. Music was the only true god at once profane and divine The dust blew through his mind as he considered the offering... And then he scored it out of ten and waited for the world to wake up
