Singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega continues her successful Flying with Angels Tour, bringing the career-spanning set to new stops in Salisbury, Folkestone, Halifax, and Aylesbury, where she will be joined on stage by her longtime guitarist, Gerry Leonard (of David Bowie fame), and cellist Stephanie Winters.
AUK has heaped praise upon the album Flying With Angels, with our own Tim Martin noting: “If you haven’t caught up with Vega in recent years, this album may come as a surprise if you are expecting the folk of ‘Luka’ or ‘Marlene on the Wall.’ She has matured as a musician and a writer, becoming both more pointed in her observations and offering a wider musical palette. As the length of time between her albums seems to be lengthening, hopefully, she will find something to say again soon as the world is a better place for a new Suzanne Vega album. And in a recent review for a live show for us, Martin Fisher noted: “Suzanne Vega’s songwriting is still of the highest calibre and, along with that, she can still deliver a live show to match.”
Once again, Vega is supported in many places by Katherine Priddy, making the above review even more prescient. Tickets went on sale today at 10 am and can be purchased here. Until then, here’s a lovely thing to watch below.
