Check out the delightfully melodic indie-folk of the latest single from The Lighthouse And The Whaler. ‘Water Walker’ is an upbeat, dreamy song, with soaring, tuneful vocals and gorgeous, understated instrumentation from the trio of Michael LoPresti, Ryan Walker and Mark Porostosky. The band say of the single: “‘Water Walker’ is about the consistent and unending flow of information, the commentary that comes from it and the effect that has on me. I sometimes think so much is said that really nothing is said at all and I think writing ‘Water Walker’ was a way to search myself, to really see if I have anything of value to say or am I just talking.” Musically, it’s a perfect soundtrack for late summer, a feeling reinforced by gorgeously-shot, washed out warmth of the video, which finds the trio performing on the beach by the gently lapping sea. The subtle, hazy light has a dream-like quality in keeping with The Lighthouse and The Whaler’s distinctive sound.
It’s the title track from The Lighthouse And The Whaler’s forthcoming EP, due out on 25th August. The band share their thoughts on the project: “‘The Water Walker EP is about communication. To start between oneself (‘What’s In Your Head’), between two people (‘I’ll Wait For You’) and with the world at large (‘Water Walker’). Each song explores a different angle of how we use the voice we have. I struggle sometimes with if I use my voice well enough, to say anything worth listening too and I think, for me, this EP was an exploration of that topic.”
