Ian Prowse announces 12th album and extensive tour dates

Merseyside’s Ian Prowse has announced his brand-new album, No Names, will be released on 3rd July 2026 via Learpholl Music. Featuring special guests Elvis Costello, Steve Wickham, Damien Dempsey and Prowse’s 14-year-old daughter Rosalita, No Names is his 12th studio album. “It’s rock, it’s roll, it’s Celtic soul,” says Prowse. “We definitely haven’t repeated ourselves. For some fans this one will be the best yet – it’s got a bit of everything. Half the songs address the wider world; radical hope, protest songs if you like. The other half map out where my emotional life and memories are at in 2026. Just like Lennon used to.”

Formerly of indie act Pele, in the last couple of years, Prowse has been inducted into the Liverpool Legends Hall of Fame, sold out the 100 Club, and opened for Elvis Costello’s last three UK tours, along with shows with The Wonder Stuff, the Blow Monkeys and Damien Dempsey, adding constantly to his ever-expanding audience. His last album was 2022’s One Hand on the Starry Plough.

The lead single from No Names offers a glimpse of what’s to come: politically committed, intelligent and catchy. “Keynote Speech is a communal singalong,” Prowse explains. “Like an exasperated, updated version of Lennon’s Give Peace a Chance. We recorded it in the same way too.”  Built around a sax solo and a chanting chorus of “Enough is Enough” – the song is a rallying cry against societal injustice.  You can see the video for Keynote Speech below (and it features my lovely friend Barry “Sausage” Jones on harmonica! – Mark)
