Here is the latest video from the fabulous Charley Crockett. It continues the spaghetti western-inspired series of videos, following a lonesome character on his travels through the glorious American countryside. Crockett says of the concept: “Everybody thinks it’s about a relationship. On the surface I guess it is, but I was thinking of it as a metaphor about my health problems. But the meaning belongs as much to the folks listening as it does to me.” That telephone has been everywhere. The health problem he refers to is the diagnosis of Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome, a congenital heart condition, as well as Aortic Valve disease, early in 2019, which led to life-saving surgery. This was just one of the many challenging experiences in his life that led Crockett to write brand new album ‘Welcome to Hard Times’. He explains: “I look at that scar and all I can think about is the limited amount of time I’ve got left, I wanted to make an album that would try to reclaim the conversation about country music.” The new album is a triumph and firmly establishes Crockett as one of the most exciting voices in Americana.
