Check out the beautifully natural guitar-work and the flawless, timeless country vocal in ‘Eyes Like Diamonds’, the new single from Rider & Rolling Thunder. It’s a genuine compliment to say that the songwriter, guitarist and singer, Rider Soran, makes it all look so effortless. It’s not. He displays excellent songcraft in this melodious ear-worm of a single. This is a heartfelt, heart-breaking classic country ballad. Soran explains the sentiment: “I wrote the song as a sad boy number. In the end, all you are left with of the good times are memories. Personally, it seems that you are always searching for the next person with eyes like diamonds.”
The band is the latest project from Idaho’s Rider Soran, who is joined by Jake Freeman (guitars), Jacob Fredrickson (bass) and Wade Ronsse (drums). Rider explains: “The idea was to make a dope record in Muscle Shoals. A collection of nice little songs to record with my friends.” Evidently, friendly collaboration works because Rolling Thunder produce a warm, cohesive and engaging sound. This is the lead single from the group’s debut EP ‘On the Banks of the Tennessee’. The slow and tender ‘Eyes Like Diamonds’ serves as a balance to the more energetic songs on the EP. Twang, harmonies and sorrow: what more could a music-lover want?
