Sounds from beyond the Shed – Week 47

What the hell has happened?

First world problems revealed to be meaningless.

Half term has been and gone and the frustrations encountered have been put into perspective by the cataclysmic events of the last couple of days. I was going to moan about a wasted week as my wife was isolating upstairs whilst the builders tore out our kitchen and I was reduced to cooking meals in the van at the bottom of the road and any chance of a couple of days away went out the window. Moan I did at the time, not now. Now I feel very lucky indeed.

Meanwhile at school, it’s Yr 11 mocks and there’s some very worried faces wandering around. This is the first time any of them have really sat down in an exam hall and gone through the whole process and they’re feeling the heat. For me it’s a resilience builder that cannot be underestimated and usually a massive kick up the arse for those that have any academic aspirations. In 10 weeks time it’ll be the real thing – plenty of time to cram some knowledge!

Been listening to some interesting stuff recently and I feel sure that you will enjoy. First up a newcomer to my record collection Gerr Walsh from his excellent Ghosts of Hope and Magic album, then The Natvral + Jen Goma with a delightful cover and finally Sir Bob with a timely reminder of the power of music and words. As ever take what you want or need. Let’s hope sanity prevails.
