‘Love Is The Currency’ is the fourth studio full-length from Alessi’s Ark, arriving over four years on from the last album ‘The Still Life’ which garnered some rather nice reviews back in 2013. Alessi started writing and performing aged 16 and recorded her first album ‘Notes from the Treehouse’ in Omaha, Nebraska with Bright Eyes producer and band member, Mike Mogis. The album was released through Virgin records in 2009 and Alessi toured extensively in the UK and Europe in support of the release with Mumford & Sons, Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling amongst others. Alessi kicks off a small but perfectly proportioned UK tour from next week where she plays Birmingham’s Cuban Embassy on Monday before heading round the country including a show in our very own neck of the woods here in Liverpool. Here are the dates:
14th May – Cuban Embassy, Birmingham
18th May – 81 Renshaw, Liverpool
19th May – Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds (with support from Alessi’s close friend Charlotte Carpenter)
20th May – Tyne Surf Cafe, solo show with Charlotte Carpenter
27th May – The Keep, Guildford (4:30pm all ages show)
28th May – Servant Jazz Quarters, London with Pollyanna Valentine
