That OH isn’t a sigh, it’s Ohio of course – but ‘Anywhere, OH‘ that’s a sigh and a heartfelt one at that. Travelling, playing shows, travelling again, can lead to a disconnect from reality – here, then gone again, making connections that aren’t real ones, finding a spot that really isn’t your spot at all. These are the things that Alexa Rosa sing of on this, the latest single from the soon to be released album “Atmosphere“, which will be out on Halloween. How appropriate that is, because ‘Anywhere, OH’ doesn’t tell of the green shoots of the Spring, not yet the Summer haze: there’s no hint of Winter cosiness either – instead it’s the chill as the year turns Autumnal, endless drizzle and grey, maybe, and a longing for a connection that matters.
Rose wrote this new song about a town she stopped in for coffee while on tour. She shares, “I was only there for half an hour passing through, but I felt homesick when I left. I remember the way the colors of houses and old oaks poked out from the fog, a line of kids dressed up for Halloween, waiting to go into some church party. There’s a bitter-sweetness in making small talk with the person behind the coffee counter, who assumes you know about whatever local news is going on—and you just nod along, knowing you’ll likely never stop there again.”

Thank you, Jonathan. We don’t hear nearly enough about Alexa. I think she’s a fabulous singer/songwriter and I wish she’d come over to the UK one day. Can’t believe it’s been four years since her last album, but hopefully a new one is on its way.
