GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter, poet, activist, and multi-instrumentalist Allison Russell has announced three headline shows in the UK and an appearance at TradFest in Dublin on 26th January. The tour finishes with a performance at London’s Lafayette on 30th January and marks Allison’s live return to the UK after performances this summer at Black Deer Festival and Glastonbury, where she also performed on BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour. The announcement follows the release of her new album, ‘The Returner’ via Fantasy Records which we recently raved about, describing it as “a beautifully sounding record that is a joy to listen to even if the lyrics have a darker hue.”
‘The Returner’ was written and co-produced by Allison along with dim star (her partner JT Nero and Drew Lindsay) and was recorded over Solstice week in December 2022 at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA. It features Russell’s “Rainbow Coalition” ensemble: Elenna Canlas, Elizabeth Pupo-Walker, Ganessa James, Joy Clark, Kerenza Peacock, Larissa Maestro, Mandy Fer (Sway Wild), Megan Coleman, Meg McCormick , SistaStrings (Chauntee & Monique Ross) , Wendy & Lisa (Wendy Melvoin & Lisa Coleman aka The Revolution) and Wiktoria Bialic.
Presale tickets are available today from https://allisonrussellmusic.com using the password THE RETURNER and general on sale starts at 10am on 22nd September.
