Track Premiere: Annie Mack “Judge And Jury”

Annie Mack’s hard hitting folk song ‘Judge and Jury‘ takes a swipe at those who feel they have a right to decide what someone else should think, what someone else should do and what someone else’s access to equality should be limited to.  It comes from a compilation album ‘#metoompls‘ of equally forthright songs.

It’s a  compilation featuring artists from Minneapolis’s and it’s focus was inspired by the #metoo movement.   The Minnesota Women/Femmes/Trans/Non-Binary Folk songwriting collective was started in late 2019, with the following objectives: Creating songs to raise Minneapolis Women/Femmes/Trans/Non-Binary Folk voices; Supporting sexual assault survivors; Raising funds for Planned Parenthood.

All the songwriters involved were asked to write and record an original song on the subject of #MeToo. Without any further guidelines, the artists delivered material ranging from heartbreaking songs about surviving sexual assault to inspiring songs about feminist icons and their influence on their lives.  The full album listing is:

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
