Rolling Stone have run a story about the new Avett Brothers musical, originally slated to debut in June 2020 called ‘Swept Away’ and they’ve now released a video for the title track from it which you can watch below.
Written by John Logan and directed by Michael Mayer the musical “draws from the North Carolina band’s catalogue, and in particular the Avett Brothers’ 2004 LP Mignonette. It’s set in 1888 and tells the tale of a shipwrecked crew, including two brothers, as they struggle to survive after reaching land off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts.”
Swept Away will premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, California, in January next year, and this debut performance of the song ‘Swept Away’ features Scott and Seth Avett on banjo and acoustic guitar along with Bob Crawford on upright bass.
The capture below looks a bit ropey so if it gets taken down, you can read the original story over at Rolling Stone Country here.
