Breaking Grass have a hard-boiled tale for you here – it’s not just a prison break, no no no: it’s a Bluegrass prison break. And who can blame them for wanting to quit the chain gang, when one considers that not only are they doing time for their brother’s crime but they’re also out working when it’s 100 degrees – and that’s in the shade.
Breaking Grass know what they’re talking of when it comes to describing the heat that their chain gang is suffering in as they’re Mississippi based themselves. The band are Cody Farrar on lead vocals & acoustic guitar; Zach Wooten on mandolin & harmony vocals; Britt Sheffield on upright bass & harmony vocals; Jody Elmore on banjo; and Tyler White on fiddle. Farrar also takes the writing credit. Special guest Randy Kohrs provided dobro on this song,
