Americana triumvirate (there’s a good word) The Devil Makes Three — featuring Pete Bernhard, Lucia Turino, and Cooper McBean – have announced their 2019 Spring European, which kicks off for a three night residency at Vicar St in Dublin on April 17th and ends in Belgium on Mayday. Supporting the trio’s latest release ‘Chains Are Broken’, the dates will feature the act supporting Massachusetts Celtic punk band The Dropkick Murphys. Tom Paxton was always there, in Greenwich Village alongside Phil Ochs, Dave Van Ronk, John Hurt and Bobby Dylan, later on watching Dylan perform at the Isle of Wight Festival in ’69, alongside John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Paul Simon shared a flat with Tom Paxton when they were both in the UK in the early ’60s, and Paxton’s songs were part of his repertoire. And he wasn’t the only one – The Kingston Trio, John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Ray Charles, Judy Collins, Pete Seeger, Janis Ian, oh …and Bob Dylan amongst the many others who have recorded his songs. The Nude Party head out on their second European tour later next month. The North Carolinians were the toast of AmericanaFest in Nashville last September, with a number of attendees and music industry types claiming the band were the best they’d seen over the duration of the festival. That’s quite some claim given the standard of music on offer in Nashville.

A five year hiatus since her last album, ‘The Voyager,’ her latest record is heavily influenced by the death of her mother and the end of her twelve-year relationship to Jonathan Rice.

William the Conqueror are set to head out on the road for a 21 date stint, including 4 festival appearances. The trio of Ruarri Joseph (vocals/guitar), Harry Harding (drums) and Naomi Holmes (bass) will feature songs from their second album, ‘Bleeding on the Soundtrack,’ which follows the release of debut ‘Proud Disturber of the Peace’ back in 2017. Both albums are intended to form parts of a trilogy of autobiographical records capturing different periods in Joseph’s life. Whilst ‘Proud Disturber..’ celebrated Ruarri Joseph’s free and easy childhood spent in Cornwall, sophomore release ‘Bleeding on the Soundtrack’ tells a darker tale of addiction and divorce.
