Preview: Mid Sussex Music & Ale Festival, Sat 26th – Sun 27th August 2023

With the August bank holiday weekend coming up then that means that the ever popular showcase for UK based Americana acts, the Mid Sussex Music & Ale Festival is about to take place again at The Hassocks hotel in East Sussex. After a lockdown enforced absence the festival returned last year and is now set to have its second post covid outing.

As festival organiser James Walker of Brighthelmstones Promotions explained to AUK when we spoke to him about the festival last year, the focus of the festival is to present the best in UK Americana, Country and Folk as well as to showcase regional breweries, an enticing blend and surely a reason to attend what amounts to a heady brew of great music and fine ale over the bank holiday weekend.

Appearing over the two days is a fine line up which certainly does include many of the cream of the crop of UK artists. Saturday’s roster includes the yearning and fleet footed Caledonia Soul music sounds of Blue Rose Code, the UK champion of Ameripolitan music, Ags Connolly, showcasing his latest album ‘Siempre’ and Michele Stodart previewing songs from her upcoming solo album. Sunday sees the magnificent Danny & The Champions Of the World taking to the stage along with AUK favourite Jason McNiff and Hannah Rose Platt who has been getting plenty of plaudits for her latest album ‘Deathbed Confessions’. Also appearing are Blair Dunlop, James Hodder, Jack Cade, Rose Thorn, Ben Featherstone and The Self Help Group.

As for the breweries, visitors to the festival are promised ales from Unbarred and the Hassock based Silver Rocket on the pumps with a wide selection of brews, food and soft drinks available. Tickets to the festival are available here.

Brighthelmstones Productions have kindly offered a pair of tickets to the festival (along with a couple of CDs from acts playing) to AUK to giveaway. To enter the prize draw, head to AUK’s Facebook page, like and share this article, making sure to tag @americanauk, and we’ll choose a winner.
