Josh King has a new album out called ‘The Shed.’ It is his lockdown album -and we know what you’re thinking but hang around, there’s a twist. The twist is, that on ‘Man on TV‘ Josh King has really caught the reality of lockdowns and pandemic responses. Where other albums and songs have focused on mindfulness, creativity and hope (three good things no doubt) Josh King lays out what may be some more familiar responses.
From the opening “There’s a man on TV tellin’ me that I should stay inside, I should shave my beard / and watch the time go by / There’s no food to eat no milk to drink / And all the people in my feed / they’re getting oh so mean / They’re all afraid to die.” through a jaunty chorus there’s the whiff of truth. Does “It’s been a few days inside I stayed with the voices in my head / I got up once or twice then went back to bed” sound familiar? This is the 2020 we really had.
