First names for Black Deer’s 2019 line-up announced

The first names have been announced this morning for the americana and country festival Black Deer’s 2019 line up, and there are some belters on there. In a victory for equestrians, South Califonia’s Band of Horses have been confirmed as the first headliner, with other artists announced including Australian roots-rockers the John Butler Trio, Northumberland’s Jade Bird, Canadian bluegrass and hillbilly folk band the Dead South, Oscar-winning Ryan Bingham and Old Crow Medicine Show’s guitarist Chance McCoy. Robert Finley lands in UK for first dates


American blues and soul singer, Robert Finley, is making his first visit to the UK next week. Known for his incredible back story, piercing voice and guitar playing skills, Finley received critical acclaim for the album he released last year, ‘Goin Platinum,’ a  collaborative effort with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. Set sail with Hannah Lou and Trevor Moss on their maiden voyage

For their fifth album ‘Fair Lady London,’ due for release on the 23rd of November, Hannah Lou and Trevor Moss have teamed up with Del Day and Danny Wilson’s Maiden Voyage record label. Cam Penner and Jon Wood all set to tour the UK

A Canadian duo much loved by Americana-UK return to the UK for a tour starting on Wednesday of this week. Cam Penner and his trusted full time collaborator, Jon Wood, return for just over two weeks of touring in support of their brand new album ‘At War With Reason.’ Penner is a true artisan of the roots-americana genre, crafting songs in his homemade recording studio tucked away in the woods behind his remote British Columbia home. Gypsyfingers tour with their folk, rock and trip-hop!

Well this is an unusual one. Gypsyfingers describe themselves as “an ethereal folk-rock band” founded by songwriter Victoria Coghlan and producer Luke Oldfield (Metronomy, The Wytches, The Last Dinosaur). Victoria’s classical training and love of dance music is fused together with Luke’s folk, rock and pop background to create a unique sound of their own described by RnR Magazine as ‘trip-hop and folk-influenced ethereal pop that delightfully doesn’t fit into any existing musical pigeonhole’. Make the easy choice of going to see JP Harris on tour

JP Harris is coming to the UK for only the second time since starting out in the music business around 10 years ago. Now with a new album to promote, ‘Sometimes Dogs Bark At Nothing,’  Nashville-based Harris and his band, the Tough Choices, are showcasing the record at the AMA-UK press launch on the 7th of November, followed by a number of dates throughout the UK. Storm alert! Emily Barker’s Hurricane hits the UK this week

The always lovely antipodean americana singer-songwriter Emily Barker whose latest album ‘Sweet Kind of Blue’ received a glowing review from us last year, is touring around the UK this week. The AMA-UK artist of the year for 2018 played Winchester on Saturday if you are Dr Who or have a time machine – and is playing other dates which you can peruse below. Stellar line up for BluesFest this week at the O2

An array of great americana talent features over 4 nights at the O2 Bluesfest in Greenwich, South East London starting on Thursday of this week. The man of whom David Hepworth once said deserved to be carried on a sedan chair for the rest of his life on the basis of the songs he wrote between 1968 and 1972, John Fogerty, former lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival, tops the bill on Thursday performing a Creedence greatest hits set – his first headline show in the UK since 2008. American Aquarium hit the UK for tour dates next week

One of American’s hardest working frontmen is heading to the UK with his new band for a limited number of dates at the end of the month. Originally formed in 2006,  BJ Barham’s band, American Aquarium, announced the dissolution of its former lineup in April of last year. Now with a new backing band, including lead guitarist Shane Boeker, drummer Joey Bybee, bassist Ben Hussey, and pedal-steel guitarist Adam Kurtz, American Aquarium will be promoting their superb new album, ‘Things Change,’ with shows in Bristol, Manchester and London. Mark Knopfler announces UK Dates for 2019

Mark Knopfler, he of Dire Straits and “and Emmylou Harris” fame has announced details of a world tour with his band in 2019. The ‘Down The Road Wherever’ tour commences in Barcelona in April and will continue all over Europe finishing in Verona in July before heading to the US through August and September.
