Country legend Glen Campbell dies at 81

Sad news overnight with the death of country legend Glen Campbell who has died after a battle with illness for many years. Billboard reported the family as saying: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.”  They have a couple of features up this morning looking at his biggest top 40 hits, and the critics’ picks of their favourite Glen Campbell songs. Rolling Stone do likewise with their favourite 20 tracks, while Jason Isbell tweeted:

And we can’t disagree with that.  RIP Glen.

Now a ghost on the canvas – saw Glen live a few years back his version of Classical Gas was immense – incredible talent
