Curation Records unveil their new signing Silver Synthetic

“Rosalie’, out on the 25th of April is their first album for the label.

Curation has proudly announced that the cosmic charm of New Orleans’s Silver Synthetic & their second album “Rosalie” will be arriving on their label. Beachwood Sparks’ main mover and Curation MD, Brent Rademaker, was apparently delighted when the band shifted over from Jack White’s Third Man: “Honestly this is the album the label have been looking for! We are beyond excited for you to hear it.”

Silver Synthetic previously turned heads with their debut EP ‘Out Of The Darkness’ and they followed it with an eponymous full-length LP on Third Man Records that distilled the scope of their sound, turning stage-honed ballads and barroom burners into one of 2021’s most promising debuts. From there, touring, demoing, and more touring, they tightened the new tunes with a view to making a ‘classic’ studio album rather than a bedroom demo-style debut. They headed into Nashville’s The Bomb Shelter with producer Drew Carroll and then on to Curation’s roster.

“I wouldn’t say our first album is pastiche but I think we managed to focus on more things that make us unique this time around.” Kunal Prakash

The album promises cosmic west-coast warmth, crossed with The Velvet Underground, Television plus a dash of 90’s Glaswegian-Soul & post-grunge feel. The celebrated Luke Schneider guests with his unique brand of pedal steel on half the songs including the opener ‘Age of Infamy’ which has a carefree swing before skipping off into Pavement territory. There are plenty of potential moments to possibly get the blood pumping and on the second side hometown studio slinger Rex Gregory on sax and flute, joins for the album’s centre piece ‘Cool Blue Night’. Rosalie, the person, is Chris Lyons’ 70-year-old neighbour.

Silver Synthetic is: Chris Lyons: Vocals, Guitar, Piano; Ben Jones: Bass, Vocals, Piano, Organ; Lucas Bogner: Drums, Percussion and Kunal Prakash: Guitar, Synthesizer, Rain Stick. You can listen to the first song to be taken from the album below.
