Brooklyn based trio Daddy Long Legs, who comprise Brian Hurd (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Murat Akturk (slide guitar), Josh Styles (drums, maraca) are undertaking tour dates from tonight in the UK and Ireland in advance of the release of the forthcoming, ‘Lowdown Ways’, their third studio album.
Produced by Jimmy Sutton and engineered by Alex Hall (JD McPherson, Pokey LaFarge, Jake La Botz) at Hi-Style Studios in Chicago, the album features 12 original compositions with songwriting contributions from JD McPherson and Sutton. Representing something of a new direction from their first two albums, it sees the band widen their sonic horizons with gospel, Americana, Cajun, and R&B influences to the fore.
Daddy Long Legs are renowned for their incendiary live performances, with a recent tour of Spain heralding them as winners of Best Live Performance of the Year. The band has performed on stage with the likes of Nikki Lane, Hurray For The Riff Raff, The Sonics, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Alabama Shakes, The Jim Jones Revue, Nick Waterhouse and backed Chicago legend T. Valentine on his album ‘The Vampire.’
Latest single to feature from the album, ‘Glad Rag Ball’, follows the first release from the album, ‘Mornin’ Moon & Nite’, and was recently featured by Rolling Stone as one of the 10 best new Country-Americana tracks.
‘Lowdown Ways’ is released by Yep Roc Records on the 10th of May.
