David Ramirez has announced details of August and September 2018 EU dates, including four UK headline shows with a stop at London’s Borderline on September 7, 2018, which come in support of David’s latest album ‘We’re Not Going Anywhere’ which is out now via Thirty Tigers. Produced by Sam Kassirer, the album finds Ramirez painting an imagined picture of contemporary America through the songwriter’s own perspective of having dual American and Mexican heritage.
Following Kassirer’s previous work on albums by Lake Street Dive and Josh Ritter, the new album saw Ramirez and his band decamp to Kassirer’s eighteenth-century farmhouse-turn-studio, the Great North Sound Society, in rural Maine. The political turbulence that was gathering movement throughout 2017’s winter months inflicted frustration upon Ramirez, ultimately inching into the album’s psyche. Ramirez says: “So many cultures in this country are being viewed as un-American and it breaks my heart. My family has raised children here, created successful businesses here, and are proud to be a part of this country. Most of what I’ve seen as of late is misplaced fear. I wanted to write about that fear and how, instead of benefiting us, it sends us spiralling out of control.”
