Drop Nineteens “Scapa Flow” – shipwreck ahoy!

Is Shoegaze Americana?  There’s a question, and if the answer that springs to mind is “no” well then we invite you to be open minded and to at least consider today’s offering as a partial counter-argument.  It does sound somewhat Americana-ish, is there a touch of Uncle Tupelo in there somewhere?  Maybe.  Anyway, it is a great song and also the first release by Drop Nineteens in thirty years.  Not only that but it’s the original lineup, in full, Gregg Ackell, Steve Zimmerman, Paula Kelley, Motohiro Yasue, and Peter Koeplin.

The reunited crew have also created a new album entitled ‘Hard Light’ which is out November 3rd on Wharf Cat Records.  Which may be cause for a mild celebration, or, alternatively not – hey, we only make suggestions, we don’t tell you what to do.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
