Finny McConnell “Atlantic City” – Listen

You’ll know the song, no doubt, but Finny McConnell brings a very different feel to the Springsteen classic.  It’s taken from McConnell’s debut solo album ‘The Dark Streets of Love‘ which is out this Autumn on True North Records.  It’s far from his first recording, of course, as Finny McConnell has been a mainstay of The Mahones for some thirty years.

‘The Dark Streets of Love’ see’s McConnell recording his own songs as well as covering meaningful cuts by Bruce Springsteen, the Tragically Hip, Lou Reed, Shane McGowan, and there’s even an outtake from an earlier Mahones release included in the album’s eleven songs.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
