Jesse Malin suffers severe spinal injury – an update

We don’t normally reproduce word for word what we’ve been sent in a press release but on this occasion we think it warrants an exception – Gary Levermore from Red Sand PR has dropped us a line to say this: “I sent out my most recent Jesse Malin press release below 4 weeks ago, having been told shortly beforehand that he had been forced to cancel a return visit to the UK/Europe for tour dates at that time due to ‘a fall’, but not to make ‘a big deal’ out of it. The sad truth of that fall became evident a fortnight or so later after Rolling Stone ran this news story. Following the outpouring of love and support in the wake of his paralysing spinal stroke, Jesse has just issued this short statement:

“Hey everyone, I just wanted to send out this message with huge gratitude and huge love for everything, all of the support in every single way. I shot this video from my hospital room here, I’m in New York. Even though it’s been 8 weeks, I’m working really hard, physically and spiritually, doing my best. I miss everybody, and I miss being outside, but I will get there. Thanks for all the prayers, and well wishes, all the messages. Every single one means the world to me.”

Everyone connected with Jesse is sending this update to a few key contacts on our mailing lists. If you are able to spread the word, we would be so grateful.”

If you’d like to donate to Jesse’s support fund the link is here (in the US obviously everything is insurance based) and if you’d like to purchase a benefit T-shirt, with all proceeds going to Jesse’s medical care, you do that here. All of us here at AUK wish Jesse a speedy recovery, and in the meantime here’s one of our JM favourites.
