Johnny Cash “Spotlight” – new music from the man in black

How’s that?  We’re pretty sure that you’ve heard of Johnny Cash dear reader, but you may have forgotten that he has a new album coming out.  Truth to tell it’s not completely new – hardly a surprise all things considered – as Cash’s vocals have been lifted from a 1993 demo session.  However, the music was deemed to be a little…dated, and so on ‘Songwriter’ a new backing has been created by musicians of note such as Marty Stuart and the late bassist Dave Roe, drummer Pete Abbott and  – on ‘Spotlight‘ – the himself legendary Dan Auerbach provides a blistering guitar solo.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
