Kate Ellis “Scars” – have you considered couples therapy?

Kate Ellis’ new single highlights its Americana credential by using not one but two AMA-UK instrumentalist award winners – Chris Hillman on electric guitar and Thomas Collison on keyboards.  The song is taken from Kate Ellis’ second album ‘Spirals‘ which is out on February 4th.  ‘Scars‘ is a rollicking accusation of a man who’s not doing what he should, but there’s two in this relationship and Ellis’ confession that “after four bourbons, three scotches, two shots and a chaser I was ready to forgive him” suggests that the dysfunction in this couple is not all on one-side.

Kate Ellis was born in Louisiana, grew up in New York and is now based in London – and her other Americana credentials are provided by her father who as a young man once played guitar with Hank Williams on the famous Louisiana Hayride, where Elvis and Johnny Cash started out.  So it was all fate.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
