Katherine Perkins and her band bring a bluesy feel to the new single ‘Day by Day’. The Maine-based songwriter is releasing her second album ‘Being Younger’ on 21st June on Twelve|Eight Records. ‘Day by Day’ is the second single in anticipation of the full release. Written at the height of the Covid pandemic, the lyrics reflect on isolation and the struggles of being simultaneously disconnected from others while observing world events on a smartphone.
“We were turning to our phones even more than before to find social connection,” Perkins reflects, “and paradoxically increasing the sense of isolation, seeing other peoples’ lives interspersed with doomsday news on the screen.”
The album was co-produced with Fox Schwach and features Chris Doyle on keys, Ross Gallagher on bass, Ryan Blotnick on guitar, Dave Palazola on drums, with Danny Fisher-Lochhead, Aaron Rourk and Emma Stanley on horns and woodwinds.
