Margo Cilker “With The Middle” – Between the coffee and the wine

What a song we have to start the week – Margo Cilker’s new album ‘Valley Of Heart’s Delight,’ (15th September) just gives and gives with songs drip-fed as singles that are so perfect in every way.  And the latest, ‘With the Middle‘ is no exception – the playing is just spot on and the lyrics are a perfect storm of heartbreak.  From the waking up and making coffee – and leaving half, just in case – to the end of the day wine to let oblivion finally come there’s a palpable absence.  And between that kick-start and the wind down there are hours and hours and hours to fill – and with what?

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
